A beautiful day for the Bérnia Circuit walk with Klaas, Phil & Freda, Gareth & Anne.  We did the walk clockwise starting at the parking place at Les Cases de Bérnia, up to the forat (tunnel) and then to the Fort de Bérnia. Total walk length was 9.36km and it took 5 hours 5 minutes.
Note: There is one section on the way up to the forat at which it is very hard to find the correct path. Phil & Gareth explored an alternative option which involved scrambling up loose stones and was clearly wrong, while the rest of us eventually found our way although we had to turn back from the way we originally went because of a huge step up to a rock which looked impossible to climb! We saw other walkers also take wrong turns and have to reverse their route so, although a wonderful walk, it is a shame some of it is so badly marked.
We had coffee in Casa Claudia in Jalon at 9am (were meant to be meeting at Aleluyah but it wasn’t open) and had paella lunch in the sun, on the terrace at Restaurant Pinos.
Not surprisingly there are a lot of photos from this walk, including some from Freda and Klaas.
